In the VI edition of the Sustainability and CSR in Public Companies Action Group, we will continue to address and analyze the trends that are setting the sustainability agenda in the Spanish public business fabric in the short and medium term. We will continue to respond to the different challenges through the generation of knowledge, the exchange and external dissemination of good business practices and the dialogue and alliances between the public companies that make up this Action Group.
Work plan:
- In the first part of this edition, we will focus on the relevant steps to become a carbon neutral public entity in the medium to long term, delving into the calculation and reduction of Scope 3 emissions and on the most suitable actions for offsetting and neutralizing residual emissions, continuing the agenda of the Action Group in 2022.
- In the second part of this edition, we seek to bring the highlights of the new Corporate Reporting Directive on Sustainability and future standards, as this is a topic of growing relevance that requires attention from public companies as a result of the new regulatory requirements for reporting non-financial information.
The Task Force was created in 2011 and further boosted in 2018 thanks to the development of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
The 2018 work stream of the Task Force was the contribution to the 2030 Agenda and the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals. We published in December 2018 the first Practical Guide on the contribution of public companies to the 2030 Agenda.
In 2019, the main line of work of the Action Group was Transparency and Responsible Public Procurement. We published the Guide to the progress of public companies facing the challenge of transparency and the 2030 Agenda.
In 2020, in an environment marked by the COVID-19 crisis, we addressed the challenges of the circular economy, the contribution to society through corporate volunteering and the importance of non-financial risk management and sustainability.
In 2021, we addressed the commitment of public companies to the new EU regulatory frameworks on human rights, sustainable governance and those related to the various measures of the European Green Pact.
In the last edition of 2022, we addressed the steps towards 'net zero emissions' in public companies, delving into the recent Law on Climate Change and Energy Transition and other strategic elements that set the path to achieve climate neutrality in Spain by 2050. The social impact of public companies was also addressed, focusing on the health and well-being and the digital disconnection of workers, as this is a topic of special interest for public companies as a result of the pandemic impact of COVID-19 in the workplace.
Forética has collaboration agreements with different Ministries, mainly with the Ministry of Labor and Social Economy, the Ministry for Ecological Transition and the Demographic Challenge, the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, European Union and Cooperation, as well as alliances with different national and international organizations.
