The Climate Change Cluster's activity in 2024 focuses on one of the 5 trends of this year's business agenda: the importance of boosting adaptation measures in the face of climate change. adaptation measures in the face of climate change.
While it is crucial to continue strengthening the commitment to net zero emissions, the gradual worsening of climate phenomena and the consequences of global warming make it necessary to redouble attention to adaptation measures. Business action in this area is therefore a fundamental lever for adjusting our societies, economies and ecosystems to the inevitable impacts of climate change.
Throughout this edition, we will explore the business case for adaptation as a strategic necessity for companies. In addition, we will identify key action areas and tools for the development and integration of adaptation plans that strengthen business resilience and capitalize on opportunities.
- The first part of this edition will lay the groundwork for climate change adaptation, deepening the collective understanding of the phenomenon and highlighting its relevance in the current socioeconomic landscape. This will be achieved by disseminating accurate information on the current and potential impacts of climate change, as well as on available adaptation measures that encourage critical reflection and collective action in the search for sustainable solutions.
- In the middle of the year, we will continue to make progress in the area of adaptation, but this time focusing on corporate action. Based on a study of the level of maturity of the group's companies in this area, we will work on priority areas for improvement and opportunity, facilitating the formulation of effective strategies to strengthen their performance in the face of climate impacts.
- At the close of this edition, the public event 'Net-Zero Spanish Business Forum' will be held, with the participation of high-level representatives of the leading companies in the initiative, as well as institutional representation. This event will focus on business strategies for climate change adaptation.
