Forética, in collaboration with the WBCSD Redefining Value team, offered the workshop "Building and demonstrating resilience through enterprise risk management & transparent disclosure" to the companies participating in the Climate Change Cluster at its second meeting in 2019. The objective was to transfer the main tools needed to integrate the management of environmental, social and governance risks and opportunities into business strategy, performance management and reporting.
The workshop used as a basis the guide "Applying Enterprise Risk Management to Environmental, Social and Governance Risks" developed by COSO and the WBCSD itself developed by COSO and the WBCSD itself, which aims to help organizations respond to the increasing prevalence and severity of ESG risks and the urgency for them to be incorporated into corporate decision-making and strategic planning to generate more value.
During the workshop, the document was reviewed, identifying the stages that enable risk management such as governance, the importance of developing a strategy and setting objectives, the identification, assessment and response to risks, as well as the relevance of effective reporting and communication. Aligned also, for the specific case of risks associated with climate change, to the TCFD recommendations on which the Cluster has been working since the beginning of 2018.
