Future trends in CSR, key to Forética's CSR Spain 2017 Forum
  • Forética has gathered today in Madrid high-level national and international speakers at its annual forum on sustainability.
  • Sustainable Development Goals, circular economy and transparency, some of the topics that focused the sessions.

September 20, 2017.- Forética, the leading association of companies and professionals in corporate social responsibility (CSR), has organized the annual event of reference in corporate social responsibility and sustainability. CSR Spain 2017 closed its fifth edition with a clear message: the economy of the future will be sustainable or it will not be.

An idea that has gained strength in the inaugural speech of the Minister of Agriculture and Fisheries, Food and Environment, Isabel García Tejerina, who in her speech, presiding over the opening ceremony of the event, has emphasized the circular economy strategy and the law on climate change as important drivers for sustainable development.

Under the slogan "creating change" and with the aim of communicating CSR trends at a global level, the event was attended by leading experts in this field, such as L'Oréal's Global Sustainability Leader, Alexandra Palt. Palt stressed that "one of the company's major challenges for 2020 is for 100% of our products to improve their social or environmental profile. And we are on the right track: last year we achieved this in 82% of the products we launched or renewed. This means that every time we invent, develop or renew a product, we will take into account its contribution to sustainable development".

The Deputy Minister of Finance and Employment of the Community of Madrid, Miguel Ángel García Martín, closed the event, explaining the various initiatives carried out by the Community of Madrid in the field of Social Responsibility. Among these, he highlighted the creation of the Social Responsibility Board and the launching of CSR awards in the field of employment and human resources management.

CSR strategy at three levels: social, environmental and transparency.

The forum was attended by representatives of key sustainability organizations such as CSR Europe, GRI (Global Reporting Initiative) and the OECD (Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development). In the second part of the event, an interactive session was organized with the participation of the public in which CSR strategy was addressed at three levels: social, environmental and transparency, showing the connection between the three areas to reinforce the concept of sustainability as a cross-cutting element in companies and organizations.

The President of Forética, Alberto Durán, and the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the association, Fernando Riaño, have stressed the importance of companies and organizations advancing in the agenda of responsible leadership, which is undoubtedly completely linked to competitiveness, as "two sides of the same coin".

The event was sponsored by Ecoembes, IKEA Ibérica, Johnson & Johnson and Janssen, L'Oréal, Sanitas and SUEZ in Spain. In addition to the support of RTVE as media partner. Compromiso RSE, Consejeros, Corresponsables, EFE Empresas, Ethic, Europa Press and Servimedia participated as media partners.
